Based in South Pasadena, architectural designer Jakub Tejchman brings a meticulous yet deeply human approach to his craft, creating spaces that balance intellectual rigor with quiet beauty. With two decades of experience—including nearly 15 years at the renowned design studio RIOS—Jakub has contributed to transformative projects like the adaptive reuse of ROW DTLA and the recently approved Television City Masterplan. Since founding jakub Projects in 2021, his focus has shifted to bespoke residential work, where his talent for layering materiality and form has yielded standout designs, such as a serene mountainside retreat in Idyllwild and an ADU celebrated in The Washington Post. Guided by a spirit of optimism and collaboration, Jakub’s practice celebrates difference and ingenuity, crafting spaces that invite curiosity, delight, and a profound sense of place.

Jakub’s path as an architect has been shaped by his experience of immigrating to Southern California, where the region’s diverse landscapes and architectural styles sparked a lifelong fascination with how design shapes our lives.
After earning a master’s degree from SCI-Arc, he spent nearly 15 years at RIOS, contributing to a wide range of projects, from intimate residences to complex urban developments. This breadth of experience honed his ability to balance visionary thinking with technical precision.
In 2021, Jakub established Jakub Projects to focus on residential architecture, where he could engage more closely with clients and craft spaces that resonate on a deeply personal level. Rooted in collaboration and driven by optimism, his work draws on the cultural and architectural richness of Southern California to create environments that are both timeless and uniquely attuned to the lives of their inhabitants.
